A true collector’s piece from Japan’s convenience-store culture. To celebrate its 45th anniversary, FamilyMart released its first-ever collection of local-design Line Socks, with a different design for each of Japan’s 47 prefectures. Each pair is sold only in FamilyMart stores within its own prefecture, so this Kanagawa edition can only be bought in Kanagawa. We sourced ours on the ground in Japan, which makes them a rare find outside the country.

The Kanagawa design takes its inspiration from the Goldband Lily (yamayuri), the prefecture’s official flower. This large, fragrant lily with gold-striped white petals grows wild on the hillsides of the region. The packaging features an illustration of the flower, along with the prefectural capital, the flower’s botanical family and its blooming season. It makes a charming keepsake in its own right.

These socks are based on FamilyMart’s well-known Line Socks from its Convenience Wear apparel range, recognisable by their signature stripes. They are unisex and comfortable for everyday wear, with a thick terry-knit sole for extra cushioning. They are also treated with an antibacterial, odour-resistant finish to keep them fresh.
